Donald Trump renewed his interest in meeting North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, despite Pyongyang signalling that another summit would require conditions and is not currently imminent. Trump has continued to describe his personal relationship with Kim in positive terms following their previous meetings.

Trump ordered joint U.S.–South Korean military exercises scaled back, describing them as hostile to North Korea, while expressing confidence that he would meet Kim later this year. North Korea, however, has responded cautiously and indicated that significant changes in U.S. policy would be required before renewed talks.
