In principle Turkey is a powerful nation. But Erdoğan makes so many mistakes that he jeopardizes the future:
- his control of justice: this undermines the confidence in judical decisions
- Erdog. fears high rates of interest - but to defeat inflation they would be necessary
- with his Gülen crucible he prosecutes too many high performers of the education system, governmental administrations, and military; his crucible weakens these institutions
- his prosecution of kurdish politicians is wrong; thus he contributes to the radicalization of originally moderate Kurds.
- his military engagement in North Syria is superfluous and it needs budget resources he doesn't dispose of
- with his renunciation of EU values (civil rights, freedom of press, ...) he creates an image problem for his country; thus he impedes tourism and discourages foreign investors
